Affordable Housing Commitment

CMHC financing for this project requires 10% of the total units (15 homes) to be designated as affordable housing. for 20 years. These units will improve access for lower-income households and contribute to long-term housing stability in the area.

More about this project

The Freedom Way residential development will deliver 150 new townhouse units in a sustainable, community-oriented neighbourhood. The unit mix includes 8 three-bedroom homes, 15 one-bedroom homes, and 127 two-bedroom homes, providing a range of sizes for singles, couples, and families.

The project is planned on a large multi-acre parcel with an emphasis on efficient land use, sustainable servicing, and environmental compatibility. Site planning and servicing design are being led by Able Engineering, with Fracflow Consultants providing groundwater and hydrogeological assessment. Together, these partners will ensure that the development’s infrastructure, from water supply to wastewater treatment, is designed for long-term function, resilience, and environmental protection.

Project Delivery & Coordination
The Freedom Way project will proceed from Spring 2026 to Fall 2028, with coordinated work across engineering, environmental, and construction teams. Key deliverables include:

  • Detailed servicing drawings and design reports prepared by Able Engineering
  • Hydrogeological investigations and groundwater development reports prepared by Fracflow Ltd.
  • An integrated water and wastewater servicing plan that supports phased construction and long-term operations

Through careful planning, technical rigour, and collaboration, the Freedom Way 150-unit townhouse development is intended to become a model for sustainable, medium-density residential growth in Nova Scotia, balancing housing supply, infrastructure performance, and environmental responsibility.
